One IVF cycle takes about 4 to 6 weeks. Here is what happens at each stage at The Hive Fertility Clinic, and roughly when.

Step 01 Before day 1

Consultation & Evaluation

A review of your medical history, hormone tests, ovarian reserve, ultrasound and semen analysis. Your IVF plan and cost estimate are agreed here.

Step 02 Days 1 to 12

Ovarian Stimulation

Hormone injections help the ovaries grow several mature eggs. Monitoring scans track progress at your nearest Hive centre.

Step 03 Around day 13 to 15

Trigger Injection & Egg Retrieval

A trigger injection completes egg maturation. About 36 hours later, eggs are collected under mild sedation in a procedure of around 20 minutes.

Step 04 Same day

Fertilisation in the Lab

Eggs are fertilised with sperm in our NABH-accredited embryology laboratory, by IVF or ICSI. Embryologists confirm fertilisation within 18 to 20 hours.

Step 05 3 to 5 days

Embryo Culture & Grading

Embryos develop in our incubators and are graded for quality, so the best embryo can be chosen for transfer. Extra good-quality embryos can be frozen.

Step 06 Around day 20

Embryo Transfer

The selected embryo is placed in the uterus through a thin catheter. It is quick, usually painless and needs no anaesthesia.

Step 07 ✓ 14 days after transfer

Pregnancy Test

A blood test confirms pregnancy 14 days after transfer. Our team supports you throughout the two-week wait.
